V Portrait is now an on-location only studio.
Due to increasing gas and electric rates, we have been forced to leave our home studio. We are now living in a beautiful apartment, the Villas at Huffmeister, but cannot set up studio here.
But the good news is, I will come to YOU! No additional mileage charges will be charged for the remainder of the year.

I will be out of town the weekend of September 21st.
My brother is getting married and I will be in San Antonio photographing the wedding for him and his new bride, and hopefull enjoying it as well. ;)
I will not be taking studio appointments at this time.

My office is (semi)complete. I still have a couple of places up high to paint, but other than that, and replacing the curtains, my office is finished. Still a little disorganized, but what else is new? I have never been the most organized person in the world, but I'm going to try to be better about that. :)
This shows the complete office, my supply area, and the entry. I still need to buy door frames for the entry there by the table though, when I was removing them to paint and tile, they split like dry crackers! I'm hoping to be completely finished with this whole project this year. ;)
I still have to finish grouting the showroom, but with no AC it's a hard job to complete as it's so hot in here!

I'm getting closer to being done! I still need to lay tile in Fred's corner of the office, then I'll start grouting my showroom and his area when the tiles cure. Then all I need to do is finish painting the office, paint baseboards and put them back on, buy more doorframes (they crumbled like dry crackers when I took them off) and paint them and put them up, put the carpet finshers on in the hallway (I decided not to tile the entire hallway due to I'm not a professional and the hallway angles and I don't want to mess it up and make it look stupid! LOL ).
So, when all is said and done, I'm hoping this place looks absolutely GORGEOUS!
Gimme some feedback! :)

It's been a few days since I updated on my remodeling project. It's coming along......slowly.....but coming along. :)
Some quick shots with commentary:
This is shot from the office across the entryway to the showroom:

V Portrait is going through a remodeling phase!
I was just so sick of the white walls, dirty carpet, and dull marble, that I just couldn't help myself!
I've torn the carpet up in the showroom, and have begun to chisel away at the marble. The marble is going to be the worst! It's very thick, and has at least 1/8" thick layer of adhesive under it. It's a very slow process. I do have an alternative though, I could rent a pneumatic chisel to cut time in half, or a demolition hammer. The kids thought that would be cool, probably because it has the word "demolition" in it. LOL
The office will be the last area to be tiled, as I, and my husband both, cannot be without our computers for too long. We go through withdrawals. Well, I would. He just has work to do on his. Constantly working that man is!
I cannot wait until it's all complete! It's going to look fabulous! And there will be less dust to kick up my allergies, and hopefully it will keep it cooler in here! Our A/C is on the blink. :(
Here are some pictures of progression. I'll keep everyone up to date with progress and pictures! :)

So, today is Fred and my anniversary. 6 years strong and still very much in love. He is my best friend and my anchor, my cheerleader and my heart. We had a very scary 2006 with his mini stroke and week-long hospitalization being diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy. He's doing great though! He's taking his meds every day as directed, suffering through the blood tests, but his heart has strengthened a bit according to his last doctor's appointment last month. Here's to a better and brighter 2007!
Back to the anniversary. Our custom is to have dinner at Outback, but I'm just not sure that's going to happen this year. I've been craving a good steak lately too. :(
We'll see what happens.
I'm getting my hair cut this morning, short.
Before Christmas I had it cut, what a nightmare! I was put with a new stylist at the salon, showed him the look I wanted (really cute shoulder length flip cut, the model in the magazine was the girl from the American Pie movies), but according to him I couldn't have that style because her bangs were long and mine were short. I asked him to do the flip anyway. I was mortified that he gave me a modern day mullet! It was awful! His remark was "this is the style of today, get with the times girl!" Uhm.......no!
I left in tears! Another stylist there KNEW I hated it and told me to call her. I immediately called her after going home and bawling my eyes out to Fred. Katelynne hugged me hard and said "I've never seen anyone cry over their hair before!". Well, when you have to live with a style as long as I do due to slow growing hair, yeah, I'm a little emotional.
The salon had me come back to try to fix it. The stylist didn't know what he had done to me, and fixed it as best she could.
Needless to say, I cannot manage a flip style. My hair is so kind. You know, the kind that belongs on a dog's _____.
So, today I go in for a new look. Looks pretty easy to maintain. Just wash, blow dry messy, add a little pomade to keep it messy looking. That's right up my alley as I really can't blow dry my hair for so long as you have to to style. The heat makes me nauseous.
I'll post pics of my new do when I get it done. Stay tuned.....

I'm sure cats do get the flu just like we do.
My cat, my baby whom I've had for 8 1/2 years, has been very sick the past few days. First he was just hanging around the house more often than normal (he's an outdoor cat, likes to be inside but not for too long). Then 2 days ago he was just very lethargic, wouldn't eat. Fred and I brought him inside and let him sleep in our bathroom, and that's when I found out he was pretty sick. He wouldn't eat, and barely drank any water. And (pardon my graphicness of this) I awoke to diarrhea all over my toilet room floor.
Yesterday he spent outside, but he stayed on our patio all day. I felt very bad leaving him outside, it was pretty cool and rainy, but I'm such a wimp when it comes to cleaning stuff like that up. I have a very weak stomach and a horrid gag reflex and just can't do it. I mean, I even gag brushing my teeth, and I don't even brush my tongue all the way to the back to cause it!
Anyway, I was checking everything outside for the night to lock up and go to bed, when who do I see on my back doorstep? Semper Fi!! He was home!
He looked up at me and meowed and purred and I was so happy! I talked to him a bit and he talked back, and I ran inside to get Fred.
He's sleeping in our bathroom again tonight. He's a little messy (read above to what I woke up to), but I'm sure he'll clean himself up good when he's fully recovered. I thought I was losing him to old age (they say a cats lifespan is reduced if they are outdoor cats), but he's fine now. I hope he lives to a ripe old 20 years. :)
Here is a picture of him. This one is a few years old. I took it with my Minolta DiMage, playing with settings and stuff, in my bed.
